Junior Summer Institute

BLI's partnership with Princeton University allows NMHU students to attend the Public Policy and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute with a full scholarship. Students nominated by NMHU and accepted by Princeton participate in a seven-week institute focused on developing critical public policy skills. Rodrigo Blanco Rojas participated in the 2009 Junior Summer Institute.

Research

An Analysis of the Impacts of the AIR Funding Formula Proposal on New Mexico School Districts was conducted by the Rural School and Community Trust.

New Mexico Language Access Needs Assessment Survey: Findings and Recommendations was conducted by the SouthWest Center for Linguistic and Cultural Competency in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health.

Rural Enrollment Trends and the Implications for Education evaluated enrollment trends in rural communities and the potential implications for school districts.

Student Research Opportunities

NMHU students can apply for support to conduct research projects with potential policy implications for New Mexico. The 2009 application and an example of a student project is available for reference. Applications for the 2009-2010 school year are not yet available.
