Junior Summer Institute
The Ben Luján Educational Leadership Fellows Program is a Masters Program that aims to develop culturally competent educational leaders that create inclusive and powerful learning environments for schools, students, families and communities in New Mexico. This competitive and rigorous program is creating the next generation of leaders.
The Center supports students to attend the Alliance to Harness Global Opportunities' (ATHGO) youth-focused forums. The forums are exceedingly interactive, educational experiences that introduce students to local and global issues. Four NMHU students attended the 2009 ATHGO Forum at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International AffairsThe Center's partnership with Princeton University allows NMHU students to attend the Public Policy and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute with a full scholarship. Students nominated by NMHU and
accepted by Princeton participate in a seven-week institute focused on developing critical public policy skills. Rodrigo Blanco Rojas represented NMHU in 2009.
NMHU students can apply for support to conduct service learning projects that contribute to communities and develop important skills. Applications for the 2009-2010 school year are not yet available.
NMHU students can apply for support to participate in meaningful summer internship projects that contribute to communities and assists students in developing professional experience. Applications for the summer of 2010 are not yet available.
NMHU students can apply for support to conduct research projects with potential policy implications for New Mexico. Applications for the 2009-2010 school year are not yet available.
NMHU students can apply for support to intern in the New Mexico Legislature. The opportunity may include meeting with student’s legislator, relevant committee members, and issue advocates, as well as observing hearings and participating in other activities. Applications for the next legislative session are not yet available.
