Junior Summer Institute
The Center's partnership with Princeton University allows NMHU students to attend the Public Policy and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute with a full scholarship. Students nominated by NMHU and accepted by Princeton participate in a six-week institute focused on developing critical public policy skills. Rodrigo Blanco Rojas represented NMHU in 2009. Applications for the next Institute are not yet available.
BLI staff facilitated a policy roundtable following the presentation, by the Rural School and Community Trust, of An Analysis of the Impacts of the AIR Funding Formula Proposal on New Mexico School Districts.

The New Mexico Acequia Association and the Ben Luján Institute convened the 2008 Land and Water Institute. The Institute convened community leaders, practitioners, and high school and university students to address contemporary land and water issues. Participants presented new research and case studies, discussed challenges and opportunities, and developed policy recommendations. The Third Annual Land and Water Institute was held at New Mexico Highlands University May 19-20, 2008.
The Center provides an education policy strand for parents at
CESDP's Annual Back to School Family Institute.
The support of BLI allows students to attend the Alliance to Harness Global Opportunities' (ATHGO) youth-focused forums. The forums are exceedingly interactive, educational experiences that introduce students to local and global issues. Four NMHU students attended the 2009 ATHGO Forum at the University of California, Los Angeles. Applications for the December 2010 Youth Forum are not yet available.
